Facebook's M & The View Of Internet Marketing Companies

By Robert Sutter

Anyone who owns an iPhone recognizes the name, "Siri." This is the name of the virtual assistant that helps smartphone owners obtain a tremendous amount of information, whether it's in regards to nearby restaurants, trivia, or what have you. Facebook seems to have taken a cue from this successful system with its own entity. This is where M will come into play and here are some of the details which Internet marketing companies are likely to give.

For those who to dot know, M is the virtual assistant that is attached to Facebook's Messenger mobile app. Essentially, when you get in touch with this feature, you will be granted help that one might associate with Siri. For example, if you are taking part in holiday shopping and you're curious to know where to best place to find clothing is, M can offer suggestions. This is one of the ways in which the Messenger app can be made worthwhile.

If you think that M is nothing more than several lines of code in a mobile app, you'd be wrong. Even though there is a fair amount of artificial intelligence behind Facebook's take on the virtual assistant idea, Facebook employees are also behind the efforts that this feature is responsible for carrying out. What this means is that there are equal parts technological and human effort to recognize. The eventual success of M is another story to consider entirely.

Execution will ultimately determine the success of M, which I'm sure all Internet marketing companies will be able to attest to. I believe that it's important to note the competition have M has, according to firms such as fishbat, especially when Siri, Cortana, and the like have become so useful. In this regard, Facebook's efforts may be at a disadvantage. With that said, if the aforementioned marriage of AI and human effort is carried out, it's easy to imagine that further success can be reached.

Competition is always welcome in the field of technology, and it's easy to see that Facebook's M has the ability to carve a respectable niche for itself. Does it already have a tremendous level of competition to account for? Given what exists on the market already, it's an undeniable statement. Nonetheless, for those who frequently use Messenger and might have been expecting more from it, perhaps M will be the feature you have been wishing for.
