Kids Can Find Fun At Skate Frederick

By Steve Johnson

In Frederick MD the fun continues all year round. At Skate Frederick ice skating is a summertime activity as well as being the heart of winter recreation. Tiny tots to adults can learn to navigate the ice, play hockey or hone their competitive skills.

Skating has always been great winter time fun. It burns calories and keeps muscles toned and minds sharp. Whether you play hockey, practice figure skating or just get out and sail around the rink you're getting healthy exercise.

In summer when the kids are hot, cranky and bored even swimming begins to lose its appeal. That's when it's good to remember that an ice rink is easily the coolest place to play in town. There's plenty of wholesome activity for the kids and parents can watch from the spectator seats without risking sunstroke.

Frederick's number one skating place offers camps in the summer. Day camps, really, they are a series of classes and activities spread over two or more consecutive days. They are usually held for four hours in the mornings before the public sessions.

A camp might focus on developing a particular hockey skill such as stick handling. Or it might be aimed at teaching what is required to move to the next level of figure skating competition. Some of the most popular camps give beginners the basic skills they need to get out on the ice and start having fun.

Parents don't need to be left on the sidelines. There are classes and camps for adults too. They can hone their skills or start right from the beginning. There are beginning hockey classes and teams for adults as well as for kids. If they have never skated before there's no time like the present to learn.

An ice rink birthday party is always a winner. Kids can sing, eat cake and open presents in the private party room and skate for the duration of the public session. For an additional charge the party giver can include thirty minutes of skating instruction.

Skate Frederick is just ten minutes from Holiday Inn Express Frederick hotel. If your family is in town for a camp or hockey tournament or ice dance competition you will be glad to have a place where kids can stay free in their parents' room. Everybody can enjoy cable TV and free WiFi.
