Trailer Wraps & How They Can Elevate Ovarian Cancer Awareness

By Robert Sutter

It goes without saying but out-of-home advertising can accomplish a number of different tasks in the long term. Perhaps it will direct people to a company in order for them to purchase its goods. Maybe it is more of an idea of promoting a movie up until its imminent release date. However, did you know that items like trailer wraps can be utilized in order to raise awareness for medical conditions? This was what Chris Baxter set out to accomplish and his story is an engaging one.

According to an article on AJC, Chris Baxter's wife, Virginia, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As a result, she had to undergo emergency surgery and chemotherapy for a month, which is the standard procedure for this particular condition. After this was done, Baxter made the decision to inform others about this condition and the ability to become checked for it as a result. He went out to increase awareness for ovarian cancer but through vehicles.

Baxter decided to use his truck and boat alike, setting wraps upon them in order to educate others about the concept of ovarian cancer. Not only would these wraps encourage women to become tested for this condition but they would offer information to help them become better informed on the matter. I felt like this was a strong idea on the part of Baxter, as it allowed his boat, for instance, to become more than just a vessel for competitions. Baxter's vehicles would soon become vessels for a good cause.

In terms of marketing any company or entity, trailer wraps have to be considered for the purpose. After all, they have been used in the past in order to bring attention to media like movies and TV shows but how useful would they be for an endeavor like ovarian cancer awareness? Considering that Baxter not only used his boat but his truck as well for this purpose, his ability to reach multiple audiences was not in question. Authorities along the lines of JMR Graphics have to commend this level of effort.

Just like any form of cancer, there is a tremendous amount of seriousness that should be seen when it comes to ovarian cancer. In my view, this is one condition that should not be overlooked, especially when there are so many ways to spread the word. Baxter wanted to make sure that he got his message across as easily as possible, which is what these wraps were able to do. Hopefully this will be able to educate others and encourage women to become tested as a result.
