I have read the many mean-spirited attacks of Sarah Palin by people here that claim to have read the book. One person even said she read it in less than four hours.
Unless one is within walking distance of bankruptcy-bound Borders Books, which display heaps and heaps of copies of "America By Heart." Some stores are GIVING them away, and numerous shoppers decline to take them. Rarely do we get a reasoned, candid and evocative narrative from the American heartland. Sarah Palin outdoes herself from "Going Rogue" and helps dispel many of the major myths distorting our basic family values. Save your money and your time. Liberals will likely form an opinion without reading it, as will conservatives who don't like Palin. I suppose this book could be valuable in a college class which examines how rhetoric and emotionalism can be used to manipulate the masses. This is hardly a new tactic. But wait, if it is bad policy and wasting American lives, isn't that the actual time to speak out? Does it make sense to speak out after a dumb war when speaking out would be pointless and after the fact? Her assertions imply the Constitution is a tool to be used in tandem with Christianity and its dogma. Even in the new millennium, an eye brow lifting portion of the populace still do not understand the simple and straight forward concept that is the separation of church and state.
If people would have gone to the booths with these words, we wouldn't have elected Obama. I've read both of Sarah Palin's books and the "voice" in this book is different than the "voice" in her first book.
I read yours from the library first and like it so much that I am buying it as a Christmas present to myself. Thank you very much. This is a good fast read that reinforces what we know to be true as Americans of faith. God, Family, Country in exactly that order is what has made our country great and will preserve us into the future.
As of this writing the book is #5 on the New York Times best-seller list. If you're not someone who is pre-disposed to hate, my bet is that you too will recommend this book.
This is a good companion to "Going Rogue", more insight into what makes Sarah the leader she is. This is why we all love her so much.
It matters, but as the pot slowly heats up, few realize that it will eventually boil. What does the term FREEDOM really mean? This is the America we all want and aspire to have. Very few will be able to read this and not see the problems that we need to address to get this nation back on track!
