This Tuscan Olive Oil Drought Needs To End

By Rob Sutter

I think that when it comes to Tuscan olive oil - or just about any sort - there has been news of a shortage. There have been great losses in Spain, about as much as 60%, because of how harvesting has dropped off in recent days. Considering that this country is somewhat known for its oil production, this is a saddening piece of news. Hopefully this shortage is only temporary, though, because I don't think there are many people who are going to stand for this.

I can't begin to tell you why there's a shortage on Tuscan olive oil, especially since it's a healthful component for just about anyone to utilize. I came across an article on the Huffington Post, talking about this drought and how it can impact the harvesting as well. You have to take into account companies such as Unaprol, which can talk to you about how this oil type is beneficial. There also is a proposed increase in price, which may pose a problem in the future.

To say that these prices wouldn't be worth it would be a lie since the oil can be used in many ways. For example, did you know that it works well with bread, replacing butter as the item to work for it? I know that my family can't be the only one which sees the benefits found within this oil type. It's clear that there is always going to be a price for this substance but it's one that I'd be willing to pay for because of how it's been in the past.

Hopefully we see an increase in harvesting overseas so that we can keep prices lower on oil. People want to be able to invest money in the things that they like but if prices do not match up to their budgets, not all parties are going to wind up satisfied. I am sure that there are many people who want to be able to invest money in these food items. However, with a set amount of money that is given constantly, not everyone is going to be able to reap the benefits.

It's hard to say what we can do in order to make this drought stop in its tracks. We want to be able to take control of the situation at hand but it doesn't seem like any one person can make it happen. It's unfortunate, especially when you consider just how many people actually put this oil to use. This is not the kind of drought that people want to be part of, I'd imagine, and I can only wish that this ends sooner rather than later.
